Keri McCarthy currently teaches at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Dr. McCarthy has returned from her Fulbright travel to Bangkok, Thailand, where she spent the summer of 2011 performing, researching and teaching about oboe and new music across Southeast Asia.

McCarthy and Spicciati to Give Master Class at UW

The School of Music at Washington State University was established in 1901, and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in music performance, education and composition. Internationally recognized faculty members offer private lessons and teach music history, theory, ear trianing, conducting, jazz and business courses. The recently renovated Kimbrough music building houses a state-of-the-art recording studio available to students and faculty.

Keri E. McCarthy Receives Fulbright Award

Keri E. McCarthy, Assistant Professor of Oboe and Music History at Washington State University, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and research at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand during the 2011-2012 academic year, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Dr. McCarthy studied relationships between Thai traditional and art musics; her project included commissioning three new pieces for oboe duo from Thai composers Weerachat Premananda, AnoThai Nitibhon, and Siraseth Pantura-Umporn. Keri performed these new works and many others in concert this summer with oboists from Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Dr. McCarthy will also taught at Chulalongkorn University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Thailand.
